Our Society, situated in Peterborough, UK, provides a meeting point for like-minded members and friends sharing an interest in Model Engineering, whether it is Steam Locomotives, Traction Engines, Boats, Aircraft or Tools. There are at present approximately 100 members and the last few years have seen a steady increase to this number.

We have a permanent raised multi-gauge track, covering 3½", 5" and 7¼" gauges at just over 1100 feet in length, situated in a walled garden in the grounds of 'Thorpe Hall', a Sue Ryder Hospice.

Please feel free to browse at your leisure and if you would like more information on any topic or event mentioned, please send an e-mail to either address shown in ‘Contact Us’.
If you're visiting the area on any Sunday afternoon in the summer, please drop in and see us - you can always be sure of a warm welcome !

Our meetings take place in the grand rooms of Thorpe Hall and are held on the first and third Mondays of the Month with a few exceptions. Mostly the meetings held on the first Mondays are ‘Bits and Pieces’ meetings, where members bring along their work in progress or anything else that may be of interest to other members. At the other meetings we have talks on subjects associated with our hobby or we arrange visits to sites of interest. Throughout the year, we also arrange coach trips to most of the major Model Engineering Exhibitions in the UK, to see what’s new in the Model Engineering world and to buy new tools and materials.

Last year we held our annual Miniature Locomotive Rally in June, details of which can be seen in ‘Major Events’. This is something we do every year, but in 2007, we also staged an Exhibition in the Hall, an undertaking we started doing in 1995 to celebrate our 25th anniversary. In memory of one of our most loved Members, we held the ‘Clarry Edwards Memorial Competition’ again for members of this Society. Have a look at the Rally at Sacrewell Farm too! All of these events promise an entertaining time for Steam enthusiasts of all ages.

Sorting the Mail at the Nene Valley Railway...Around 30 members and their friends along with members of the Peterborough Historical Society and the Gauge 1 Society enjoyed an evening visit to the Nene Valley Railway on Monday 19th July. A special train was laid on, hauled by a Class 31 diesel loco coupled to the Mail train where several demonstations were made of mail being exchanged. Members were able to watch this from the trackside as well as inside the train. Click here for photos and videos of the evening.

Sacrewell Steam 2010The 14th Sacrewell Steam Rally held at Sacrewell Farm & Country Centre was once again blessed with good weather and a good display of engines of all types. Click here to see photos from the event.
