As a ex electrician and refrigeration engineer I was very good at silver soldering. Not because I’m clever, just because I had a great deal of practice. Now when it comes to welding that’s another story! Usually when I finish a welding job that’s when I should start it, as I’ve then had the practice!! I have equipment for MIG, TIG and ARC welding and like to chose the most suitable one for the job in hand. Five or six years ago I made a stainless steel grate using ARC welding and it has held up very well ,considering the extremely violent conditions it has to endure! I’ve used the same technique on this grate. I must admit I was very pleased with the result and hope it gives the same service.
